The JKD Legacy Academy respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through jkdlegacy.com.au, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

  • Details you give us in our forms: your name, phone number and email address, and, if you choose to share them, your preferred location, your martial arts experience and any message.
  • How you found us: information about the ad or link you clicked, such as the ad click identifier (for example, Google's "gclid"), campaign tags (UTM), the page you arrived on and the website that referred you.
  • Technical information: your device type, browser and the pages you visit, collected through analytics and advertising cookies (see section 5).

Please don't include sensitive information, such as health details, in our forms. If you need to tell us about an injury, we can talk about it when we call you.

3. How we use your information

  • To contact you by phone, text message or email to book your free trial class and answer your enquiry.
  • To manage your enquiry and, if you join the Academy, your membership.
  • To understand which ads and pages work, and to measure and improve our advertising, including on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not add you to a newsletter or send you marketing emails without your consent.

4. Who we share it with

Our instructors, including our Adelaide instructor, can see your enquiry so they can contact you. We also use trusted service providers who help us run the website, and only share what they need:

  • Website hosting and database (Vercel and Turso), which store the details you send through our forms.
  • Email delivery (Resend), which we use to notify our team of new enquiries.
  • Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) and Meta (Meta Pixel), for analytics and to measure our advertising. When you submit a form, your email address and phone number may be sent to Google in a hashed (encrypted) form to measure which ads led to an enquiry ("enhanced conversions").

Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States and Japan. We take reasonable steps to ensure they protect your information. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

We use cookies and similar technologies from Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel to count visits and measure how our ads perform. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can also:

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to respond to you and manage our relationship with you. After that we delete or de-identify them. If you would like us to delete your details sooner, contact us.

7. How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it.

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing jkdaustralia@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or a complaint about how we handle your information, please contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
